Why do we need portable appliance testing?
Very briefly:-
The Health & Safety at Work Act puts a duty of care on employers, employees & the self employed to ensure the safety of people using the premises.
The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations says ,”Every employer shall make an assessment of the risks to health & safety of employees at work & people not in his employment arising out of his conduct or undertaking”.
The provision & use of Work Equipment Regulations states, “Every employer shall ensure that equipment is maintained in efficient working order & good repair”.
The Electricity at Work Regulations state “All systems shall be constructed & maintained so as to prevent danger”.
A “Managed testing & maintenance record” (which is what I provide), is a defence in a court of law should you find yourself in that unfortunate situation.
